Project Description

KatNina is a treasure to keep. I met Nina when I was in high school. Her insight and support helped me tremendously during my college application process. She is intelligent, kind and humorous. Having a conversation with Nina is very pleasant and I always learn so much from her.

Nina’s advice proved to be very valuable during my first semester of college. Because college courses are much more intense than high school courses, Nina advised me to pick fundamental, introductory courses in order to build a strong foundation for higher-level courses. I was glad I followed her advice. Many of my peers jumped ahead, thinking that their AP classes were enough, but then a lot of them ended up switching majors by sophomore year. I knew from the start of college that I wanted to be a science major, and because I chose my classes strategically, I was able to stick with the same major all throughout college and graduated in four years.

I joined many clubs and extracurricular activities my freshman year to keep myself busy. Nina helped me pick clubs based on both my interest in science and strong desire to help others. I ended up choosing a club that helps disadvantaged high school students who also have chronic illness. Although I provided the mentorship, these high school students enriched my life. I was amazed by these students’ zest for life despite any obstacle that stood in their way. By the time I was a senior, I became president of the club. Through my experience volunteering with this organization, I realized that I want a career in which I help others because I love working with people.

Even after I graduated from college, Nina helped me apply for internship and job opportunities. I also feel comfortable asking her any questions about relationships. Her advice is always on point. Nina is very humorous and kind, and our conversation flows naturally. She speaks to me as a close friend. Nina is intelligent and perceptive, and is never afraid to call me out if she feels that I am avoiding her questions. Even after all these years, Nina still remembers my birthday and sends me a card every year. She is always responsive to my texts and emails. I confide in Nina and trust her with all my heart. Nina has broad interests and experiences, from youth education and law to art and literature. We are both avid readers, and she even sends me books to read so that we can discuss them together.

Nina is always upbeat, happy, and lively. Whenever I feel down, Nina knows exactly how to cheer me up. I feel so lucky to have her as my life coach. Nina is my coach for life.
